時間学国際シンポジウム 2018

On August 1st – 3rd 2018, Yamaguchi University’s Research Institute for Time Studies and the TIMEJ project jointly held an international symposium titled „Time in Medieval Japan“ in collaboration with the Japanese Society for Time Studies .

Over the course of the three days, 25 researchers presented their work in various fields: literature, religion, warfare, court and village life, calendars, etc. The symposium brought together specialists on the study of time of medieval Japan from all over the world and marked a step in the strengthening of the network of international time studies. It was an invaluable opportunity for the TIMEJ team to exchange ideas with colleagues and start ongoing collaboration projects.

The symposium was preceded by a two-day PhD workshop organized by Yamaguchi University in which a total of 8 PhD students from Switzerland and Japan discussed their dissertation projects as well as methodological approaches to the study of time.
